St. Louis Zoo

We went to visit Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye for Thanksgiving, and we got a chance to visit the St. Louis zoo one day. We were fortunate that it was 63 degrees and beautiful. The girls loved it, but they definitely got tired out.

The kids said that they wanted to see cheetahs and giraffes at the zoo. Of course they were on opposite sides of the zoo.

I'm pretty sure this elephant used to be in the circus. It was definitely putting on a show.

Getting Ready for Christmas

I've avoided taking the girls to the mall to sit on Santa's lap in the past because I had a pretty good indication of how it would go. Both girls would cling to me and refuse to sit on Santa's lap. That's what happened for the past two years at our twins club Christmas party. I decided that they might finally be brave enough this year, so we tried it out when we were at the mall last weekend.

As usual, they both talked a good game saying that they would sit on Santa's lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. Tannah wants a suitcase and a sleeping bag, and Harper wants a "silly puppy" and a suitcase and a sleeping bag. Harper said she would talk to Santa, but she wanted me to go too.

The girls got dressed up in their adorable Christmas plaid (apparently, I'm super into plaid this year).

Tannah jumped right up on Santa's chair and sat next to him. Harper wouldn't even sit on the side of my lap that was close to Santa. She told me what she wanted, and I relayed it to Santa.

Maybe next year:)

Pumpkin Carving

The girls got really into carving pumpkins this year. They were super excited about it and helped pick out their designs. They both did a great job scooping out the insides, and I had picked up some pumpkin "bling" last year on clearance, and the girls thought that was great.

Three Years and Seven Months!

Time is flying, and these girls just keep growing and growing!

At 3 years and 7 months:

• I'm wavering on my decision not to get a dog. The girls love them so, so much. But they're so much work, and I would be doing most (all) of it right now.
• Their most requested show is Sheriff Callie. Sometimes they also ask for Paw Patrol and Sophia.
• They love going to preschool. They get to bring things for show and tell on Tuesdays and have library on Thursdays, and they think this is the coolest thing ever.
• The girls love to color and paint.
• They wear size 4T shirts and pants. They wear size 9 shoes.
• They sleep from about 8:30 until 7. We are restricting their naps to 45 min to an hour and bedtime is going much better. The girls have earned a lot of tattoos, and several larger prizes. They are both almost to their first "big" prize.
• They love their blankies and puppies and big hugs and kisses. 
• They love to read and have started telling me that they are going to read to me. Harper always wants complete silence while she "reads".
• They're still refusing pants for the most part. They only want skirts and dresses. Ever since we started dance class, Harper only wants to wear tights rather than leggings.
• They love weekends because we let them "sneak" into our bed and sleep with us until the morning (and they generally sleep until 7:30 or 8 in our bed).

Happy Halloween!

After a full day of rain and snow/ice, the weather cleared up enough for a nice evening of trick or treating. It was really cold, but that worked out perfectly for the adorable costumes my mom made for the girls.

I started asking the girls what they wanted to be over the summer, and Tannah immediately said Kahlua (the dog at their daycare), while Harper wanted to be Elsa.  They always answered that way for months until a few weeks ago when Harper decided she wanted to be a horse. Grandma took that one step further, and we ended up with the most adorable puppy and unicorn every.

These costumes were seriously amazing.

 The girls got way too much candy, and we all had a blast. Their costumes were nice and warm. Harper headed home after trick or treating our whole street. Tannah made it down another street in our neighborhood and kept proclaiming loudly that she wanted "ALL THE SUCKERS!" She collected 10:)

Pumpkin Patch

Our daycare provider lives near a horse farm, and Tannah has been talking about riding horses for months now. She mentions it multiple times every week. Over the summer I mentioned that the pumpkin patch we went to last year had pony rides, so maybe we could go again in the fall and she could ride. She's been asking about the pumpkin patch ever since.

We finally made it there, and the girls had a blast. Despite an initial reluctance, Harper rode the ponies too. She generally gets nervous around large animals. She love, love, loves goats, and I think it's because they're a little smaller.

The girls had a great time eating popcorn, petting the goats, looking at pumpkins, and, of course, riding the ponies.
