Happy Easter!

The girls were up and ready to find their Easter baskets bright and early.

The bunny also left some eggs and candy laying around the house.

After our egg hunt, we went to my parents' house for breakfast.

We have a relaxing afternoon and dinner planned today.

Six Years Old!!

The girls were so excited for their birthday, and they woke up bright and early on Saturday morning. I pulled out a photo album and showed them pictures of the day they were born and when they were babies. Tannah was a little worried that I was going to make her wait to open her presents until the time she was born (9:23 pm). She didn't have to wait that long, but she did insist on being able to stay awake until her "real birthday" as she called it.

I didn't actually make her wait that long. The girls have been really excited about skating lately, so we thought roller skates would be a good birthday present. Tannah requested rollerblades, but Harper wanted old school roller skates.

The presents were a big hit. During the day, we met some of my college friends and their kids at Chuck E. Cheese. It was the girls first time going, and they had a blast. It didn't hurt they walked up to the counter with about 150 tickets each, and walked away with over 1700 tickets worth "prizes." I'm still not sure how that happened, but they girls were really excited. Harper got a gumball machine, which she thinks is the best thing ever.

When we got home, my parents and a friend came over for more presents and cake. My parents gave the girls some really cool games.

The girls requested chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and I thought they might each like their own rather than sharing, and I was right. They cakes were really ugly, but they tasted good:)

Happy Birthday to my beautiful girls! Their smiles light up every room they enter!

Five Years and Eleven Months

Time is flying! I completely missed last month's post, and apparently it's been over a month since I even posted. The girls are almost 6, which is completely crazy. We were on vacation last week at the happiest place on earth, so I need to find some time to blog about that trip. It was so, so much fun.

At 5 years and 11 months, the girls:
  • Love dressing up in princess dresses and wearing high heels. Since I've been slacking in my blogging, the short version of that story is that Harper has been asking for "high heels" for over a year. She's been disappointed the past two Christmases when Santa didn't bring them. We've been working really hard on some goals for school, and she decided that she wanted high heels to be her reward. The day she reached her goal, we went out and bought both of the girls black patent shoes with little heels. They love them so much. They don't love the rules I made limiting when they can wear them.
  • Love Moana - the movie and the soundtrack.
  • Wear size 6 clothes and size 12 shoes.
  • Both girls have lost two teeth. Tannah has a few more that are wiggly.
  • Love taking creative canvas classes at school.
  • Still love to sneak into our bed on the weekends.
  • Love swimming and spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Merry Christmas!

We had told the girls they needed to sleep until at least 7, and they came running into our room at precisely 7:00. Santa came!!

Hatchimals!

o

Shopkins!

An Elena of Avalor dress and a certificate to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Disney World!

A new sled! This was the first year the girls didn't ask for or received exactly the same presents.
Tannah got a sled and some Magformers. Harper received a toy computer and Shopkins. She also asked for high heels again this year, but that didn't happen.

Grandma and Grandpa spent the night so they could wake up with us to open presents. Grandma helped care for the Hatchimals while we were trying to get them to hatch.

Harper's hatched in about 30 minutes.

Tannah's didn't hatch, so she had to take matters into her own hands.

We had two happy little girls on Christmas morning!

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, the girls and I went to mass with my mom while Wei-Yand stayed home and prepared Hot Pot for our Christmas Eve meal. The girls loved their fancy dresses.

We arrived at the church 30 minutes early (a record for us), but the church was packed, and we had to stand the whole time. I was so impressed with how well-behaved the girls were considering the less than ideal conditions.

The girls kept asking me if I believe in Santa Claus this year, and when Tannah mentioned that Santa was coming, Harper mentioned that they didn't know for sure if he was real. She decided that they way she would know is if he ate the cookies the girls left for them.

The girls chose the present they got for each other to open on Christmas Eve. They picked them out at the Holiday Fair at their school. Tannah got harper some Pokeman character, and Harper got Tannah a Cookie Monster.

Not featured on the blog is the family picture of all of us in our Santa PJ's. It was all sorts of amazing.

The girls were big into tracking Santa, and they kept wanting to look at my phone to check to see where he was. My dad used to call my uncle every year and pretend to be Santa for my cousin, so my uncle did that this year. I programmed his phone number in as Santa, and you should have seen Tannah's face when I showed her the caller ID. Harper likes the idea of Santa, but doesn't want anything more than presents under the tree. She looked a little nervous when "Santa" said he'd be seeing her soon.

The girls went to bed at 9, and Tannah told everyone that they had to be in bed by 10. She didn't want to take any chances that anyone would still be awake, and Santa would skip our house.
