A Day With Grandpa

While Wei-Yand and I were off house-hunting last weekend, my dad volunteered to watch the girls.  By himself.  He didn't have to work on Friday, and my mom did, so despite my slight concerns (not at all for the girls, but for my dad who was going to have to wrangle two very active little girls all day long), Wei-Yand and I headed off to look for houses before the girls even woke up.

I should also mention that while my dad is about the most amazing grandpa you could ask for, he doesn't change diapers.  He said that he changed enough when my sister and I were little, so as long as someone else was around to do it, he wouldn't be the one to have to deal with that.  The night before we left he told me that he left the hose out in the sun so the water would warm up so he could just set the girls loose in the back yard and spray them off if need be.  He was joking, and I think I found it much more amusing than my mom did.

My dad has been really good about sending me pictures and messages on the days that I've had to leave the girls, and last week was no exception.  In fact, I thought it would make for a good post:)  So, here is the girls' day with grandpa:

7:53 am - Good Morning: Woke up ornery, but we are happy now!

8:05 am - Breakfast

8:17 am - Peek a boo

8:39 am - In the immortal words...: ...of Jackson Browne ... I thought that it would kill me ... but I'm alive!  Poopy diapers ... yuck.

11:23 am - Where's my bottle?

11:23 am - Nap time is over

12:00 pm - Lunch!

12:08 pm - Noodles are Yummy: We don't need no stinking meat!

1:08 PM - Happy Girls: We took a 2 hour nap, then drank our whole bottles. Had fun at lunch but didn't eat all that well  we love pears but don't care much for meat. We played for a while with Grandpa then took a walk. Tannah got mad and screamed until Grandpa carried her. We are back now and love playing with Grandpa's cane. Tannah is acting sleepy.

1:16 pm - Best toy ever

 1:17 pm - (no subject)

1:11 pm - It's all fun and games ....: ... til somebody cries

1:24 pm - It's all fun and games ....: (from Grandma) Hopefully it was you that got bonked!!!  I'll be home soon!

1:27 pm - It's all fun and games ....: Just put them down.  Very sleepy.  So are the girls.  Haha

I think my mom made it home by the time the girls woke up from their nap, and that was the last of the pictures.  My mom told me that my dad still had enough energy to cook dinner that night, so I considered the day to be a smashing success!

Our New Home!

Things have been pretty quiet around here lately, and part of that is because I've made two trips to Michigan in the past few weeks to interview for a new job.  The good news is that I got it.  The even better news is that it's only two hours from my parents.  We only have about two weeks left in Wisconsin, so we combined a previously planned trip to visit my parents with a house-hunting trip.

Wei-Yand and I dropped the girls off with my parents, and we saw 15 houses in two days.  We haven't made an offer yet, but we found two houses in which we think we would be very happy.  We also got to have a date night and spent our first night away from the girls together.  We walked around our new town and down by the beach, where I took a few pictures.  I think we're going to be very happy here:)

Proud Mommy!

I think I can finally say that I have two walking babies!  Harper has been taking a few steps here and there when someone actively tries to get her to walk, but today when I asked her to come to me she stood up on her own and walked over.  Then I watched her walk between the play yard and the couch on her own.  I'm sure that she and Tannah will be racing down the hallway in no time.  I haven't caught it on video yet, but that's my goal for the week.

In other exciting (for a mom) news, tonight I asked Tannah to get her sleep sack and bring it to me, and she turned around, got her sleep sack, and brought it to me!  I was amazed that she actually knew what her sleep sack was (by name) and was able to follow two step directions.  I'm pretty sure my daughters are geniuses:)

We took the girls to the zoo this weekend, and although we didn't stay very long because it was so hot, I did get a few pictures.  They were warm little girls!

The zoo has a new baby camel!  It was too cute!

Happy Mother's Day!

It's my second Mother's Day, and I still can't believe how lucky I am to be these sweet little girls' mom.  Wei-Yand was in German again this week, and Harper had a fever for three days, so it was a very long week, but I'll take a long week with these cuties any time.  They give hugs and kisses and smiles that melt your heart (just not always for the camera:).

This is how Harper gives kisses.

I can tell that Harper still isn't back to 100%.  I just wish she would feel better.

The girls made me Mother's Day presents at daycare.  I don't think I will ever get tired of their crafts.

Also, my parents sent me flowers, so all in all, it was a great day!

Monkeys

Wei-Yand and the girls were playing before bed one night last week, so I decided to try to snap a few pictures.  These girls just do not sit still for anything, which made taking pictures pretty difficult.  They like to climb on everything right now, so we have to be very careful if we let them up on the furniture.  They really are little monkeys:)

13 Months

The girls are thirteen months old today, and they are the sweetest little girls.  Harper developed a fever while at daycare today, and she was pretty miserable tonight, so I didn't actually get a picture today, but this is from Sunday, so it's pretty close.

The big news for this month is that Harper took her first steps last week.  She still only walks when someone is coaxing her, but I have no doubt that she'll be toddling along with Tannah soon.

At 13 months:
  • Harper has six teeth, and Tannah has eight.
  • The girls both wear size 12 or 12-18 month tops.  We've learned that they are skinny minnies, and their 12-18 month pants are too big though.
  • The girls drink 18-24 oz of milk per day and eat 3 meals and a snack.
  • The girls wear size 3.5 shoes and size 4 diapers.
  • They sleep from 7 pm to about 6:45 am.  They take two naps per day.
  • They love blankets, lovies, and their Laugh and Learn Home.
  • The girls can now give kisses when asked.  Harper often gives Tannah kisses on the top of her head.  Of course, Harper's open-mouth kisses leave Tannah looking like she just took a bath:)

They are fun, delightful, utterly exhausting little girls, and I could not love them more!

Play time

The girls are so much fun to play with these days.  They are cute, they are funny, and they constantly make me laugh.  They love to climb.  They try to climb on the furniture (which we try to discourage), but I think it's hilarious when they pull toys out of the toy bin and climb in.  They get so proud of themselves.

Tannah is becoming very attached to blankets and lovies.  She carries them all over the house, and she loves to play peek-a-boo with them.

Harper loves to climb on her rocking toys.  She climbs on Simba or Winnie-the-Pooh, and a starts to rock.  Then a huge smile stretches across her face.  It gets even bigger when she presses one of their ears and turns the music on.

It's kind of funny to think back to last summer when we were in total survival mode, and the girls just laid around all the time.  We now have two active, engaging little girls on our hands, and I just can't get enough of them!
