Harper Walks!

When Tannah started walking, she was very tentative.  She took her first steps, and then for weeks she would only take one or two steps here and there.  She would flat out refuse to even attempt to walk if she wasn't in the mood, if she fell down she would just crawl, and it took her almost a month to really start walking.

Harper has taken a little longer to take her first steps, but I figured that once she started, she would take right off.  Boy was I right.  I feel like she just took her first steps and all of the sudden she thought she could run.  For the record, she couldn't, but she sure did try.  I am amazed at how quickly she went from a few steps to stumbling down the hallway bouncing off the walls to walking down a sidewalk waving at people.  I seriously feel like it happened overnight.  For example, this first video was taken on a Saturday.

On Monday morning, Wei-Yand and I were laughing  because she looked like a little pinball bouncing off the walls as she walked down the hallway.  I picked her up from daycare and brought her home, and all of the sudden she could do this:

She's still not quite as stable or fast as Tannah, but I'm sure they'll be racing down the hallways of our new house in no time.

Proud Mommy!

I think I can finally say that I have two walking babies!  Harper has been taking a few steps here and there when someone actively tries to get her to walk, but today when I asked her to come to me she stood up on her own and walked over.  Then I watched her walk between the play yard and the couch on her own.  I'm sure that she and Tannah will be racing down the hallway in no time.  I haven't caught it on video yet, but that's my goal for the week.

In other exciting (for a mom) news, tonight I asked Tannah to get her sleep sack and bring it to me, and she turned around, got her sleep sack, and brought it to me!  I was amazed that she actually knew what her sleep sack was (by name) and was able to follow two step directions.  I'm pretty sure my daughters are geniuses:)

We took the girls to the zoo this weekend, and although we didn't stay very long because it was so hot, I did get a few pictures.  They were warm little girls!

The zoo has a new baby camel!  It was too cute!

Busy

Oh my goodness, life is busy these days.  A big part of that is chasing after two very active little girls who like to get into everything, and I mean everything.  They love to pull books off of bookshelves and clothes out of drawers.  Yesterday Tannah pulled a pot out of our cupboard, and then started crawling into the cupboard.  Also, they like to climb.  They love climbing on their new chairs, and I made the mistake of putting the chairs too close to our couch.  Before I knew what was happening, Harper figured out that she could use the arm of her chair to crawl onto the couch.  Tannah watched her and decided to try out her skills as well.  Needless to say, their chairs are now farther away from the couch.

Tannah is walking pretty much everywhere these days (unless she's tired or upset - then she crawls.)  Their hair is getting long, so I'm working with them on keeping bows in their hair, but so far it's not going very well.

Harper is cutting three (yes, three) new teeth, and she's not very happy about it.  She's been a little high maintenance for the past week, and I just feel so bad for her.  I'm hoping they come in soon, so she can go back to being my smiling, giggly, girl.

We managed to get one picture with my parents the weekend of the girls' party.  The girls were so worn out after all of the excitement.

First Steps

Tannah took her first steps last Saturday.  She's been cruising for months, so we knew it was only a matter of time.  Wei-Yand and I actually both missed her very first steps:(  He was laying on the floor, and she was cruising along our couch when all of the sudden he said, "did she just walk over to me?"  I said that I didn't think so, but we put her back at the couch and she did it again.  Then I took a video, which won't transfer correctly because it's on my iPhone, but it's really, really cute.

Last night the girls were playing when we got home, and Tannah decided to use our garbage can as a walker (why did we buy their Stride to Ride Dino again?).  Both of the girls were very excited to be allowed to play in the kitchen, which you can tell by their giggles.  By the time I started shooting, Tannah had already walked with the garbage can for a few feet, and she demonstrates her new skills near the end.

Their little giggles crack me up and make me so happy.  They are such fun, sweet little girls, and I love them so, so much!
