Apple Picking

September is apple picking time in Michigan! And I never miss an opportunity for pictures at an apple orchard!

The girls were so excited to get to eat an apple!

5 Years and 5 Months!

At five years and five months:

  • The girls love to play outside and jump on our neighbors trampoline.
  • They love to ride bikes, and Tannah has mastered a two-wheel bike with no training wheels. Harper has been very brave about trying to ride one.
  • Harper has 2 loose teeth.
  • The girls love to watch Elena of Avalor and Alvin and the Chipmunks (they take after their mommy:).
  • They love to dance with me, especially to Mama Mia.
  • They are moving into size 6 clothes.
  • They are becoming very self-sufficient. They get themselves ready for school in the morning without help other than making breakfast.
  • Harper has two wiggly teeth. She's still patiently waiting to loose her first.
They are sweet delightful little girls!

First Day of Kindergarten!

The girls first day of kindergarten was entitled "A Snapshot of Kindergarten." We attended with the girls, and they were both assigned to the morning session. We arrived early to take a few pictures at the school.

The girls were very excited, but they are in separate classrooms for the first time this year, so they were also a little nervous. Harper has Mrs. Ashley, and Tannah has Mrs. Luckritz. To start the morning, I went with Harper, and Wei-Yand went with Tannah. The girls were each told that a toy from their class (Duddly the Dragon for Harper and Milton the Moose for Tannah) had broken the rules and left the class. It was the girls' job to go on a scavenger hunt of the school to find them. Armed with our list of locations we took off looking for Duddly. We ran into Tannah and she helped us find the music room and the art room. We found Duddly and Milton in the office. The girls also saw our next door neighbor in his classroom, which made them very happy.

After the scavenger hunt was the family bus ride. The girls were probably most excited for this. They thought the bus ride was great.

After the bus ride the girls practiced lunch time and recess while the parents went to their classrooms to learn more about the school and the teacher.

The girls thought it was a great first day!

They went to Darcy's for the afternoon, and there were many tears when we said goodbye. We're on to exciting new adventures, but we're going to miss her so much.
