Five Years and Eleven Months

Time is flying! I completely missed last month's post, and apparently it's been over a month since I even posted. The girls are almost 6, which is completely crazy. We were on vacation last week at the happiest place on earth, so I need to find some time to blog about that trip. It was so, so much fun.

At 5 years and 11 months, the girls:
  • Love dressing up in princess dresses and wearing high heels. Since I've been slacking in my blogging, the short version of that story is that Harper has been asking for "high heels" for over a year. She's been disappointed the past two Christmases when Santa didn't bring them. We've been working really hard on some goals for school, and she decided that she wanted high heels to be her reward. The day she reached her goal, we went out and bought both of the girls black patent shoes with little heels. They love them so much. They don't love the rules I made limiting when they can wear them.
  • Love Moana - the movie and the soundtrack.
  • Wear size 6 clothes and size 12 shoes.
  • Both girls have lost two teeth. Tannah has a few more that are wiggly.
  • Love taking creative canvas classes at school.
  • Still love to sneak into our bed on the weekends.
  • Love swimming and spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Five and a Half!

Now that the girls are in school full time, it's even harder to find time to take pictures. I need to be better about it. The girls were so excited for their half birthday. They asked me to make them cards and told everyone they could that they are now 5 1/2.

At five and a half:
  • The girls have a set of identical twins who live in our neighborhood pick them up at the bus after school. They girls love playing with Emma and Erin, but they miss Darcy terribly. We make a point to stop by her house every once in a while since she's missing the girls as well.
  • They love hanging upside down on their swingset.
  • Harper has 2 loose teeth.
  • The girls love to watch Wild Kratts and Shimmer and Shine. They plan to be Shimmer and Shine for Halloween.
  • They love to play Go Fish and Old Maid.
  • They wear size 6 clothes and size 12 shoes.
  • They both love riding the bus and computer class at school.
  • Their school recently did a PTO fundraiser, and the girls loved selling popcorn and cookie dough and earning emoji keychains.

After a bit of a rocky start, they are both thriving in their own classrooms and loving school!

5 Years and 5 Months!

At five years and five months:

  • The girls love to play outside and jump on our neighbors trampoline.
  • They love to ride bikes, and Tannah has mastered a two-wheel bike with no training wheels. Harper has been very brave about trying to ride one.
  • Harper has 2 loose teeth.
  • The girls love to watch Elena of Avalor and Alvin and the Chipmunks (they take after their mommy:).
  • They love to dance with me, especially to Mama Mia.
  • They are moving into size 6 clothes.
  • They are becoming very self-sufficient. They get themselves ready for school in the morning without help other than making breakfast.
  • Harper has two wiggly teeth. She's still patiently waiting to loose her first.
They are sweet delightful little girls!

Four Years and 11 Months!

I cannot believe that the girls will be five in one month. The days are long, but the years are short.

  • The girls love their blankies and are always asking for new stuffed animals.
  • They love dressing up and coloring.
  • They love swimming.
  • They love to draw pictures.
  • The girls wear size 5-6 clothes and size 11 shoes.
  • They love Disney movies and PJ Masks.

Four Years and Ten Months!

Five is just around the corner, and the girls are busy making plans for birthday parties and presents.

At 4 and 10 months:
  • Both girls are swimming independently (no flotation devices). They're still working through what to do when they run out of air, but they swim amazingly far and quickly with one breath.
  • The girls love their blankies and are always asking for new stuffed animals.
  • They love dressing up and coloring.
  • They love building snowmen and having snowball fights.
  • Harper has really been into playing with her Barbies and doll house. Tannah has been more into building with her magformers.
  • The girls wear size 5-6 clothes and size 11 shoes.
  • They love Disney movies and PJ Masks.
  • They love preschool and Darcy.
  • They love doing crafts and snuggling with Mommy and Daddy.
  • They love to go to the library to borrow books and movies.
I can't believe how quickly they seem to be growing up. They've started asking to get their ears pierced, and I'm looking into signing them up for Kindergarten next year. Time flies.

Four and a Half!!

I'm a few days late on this post, but the picture was taken on the 8th:)

At four and a half:
  • The girls both love to "read" to us at night. They always ask if they can read the book "however they want":).
  • They still love their blankies above all other toys.
  • They love princess, dress up, and babies.
  • They love going for walks and riding bikes.
  • Tannah can whistle!!
  • Harper, while sometimes strong willed, is such a sweet, compassionate little girl, she just melts my heart.
  • Tannah's favorite foods are hot dogs, French fries, and corn.
  • Harper's favorite food is macaroni and cheese. But don't let her fool you. She loves dumplings, pretty much all of Ye-Ye's cooking, and seaweed salad. She is her daddy's girl.
  • The girls wear size 5 clothes and size 11 shoes.
  • They love Disney movies, Paw Patrol, and Sophia the First.
  • They still love dogs and tell me how much they'd like a real dog at least once a week.
  • They are loving swimming lessons.
This is such fun age! They're sweet and funny and love their mommy and daddy like crazy!

Four Years and Five Months!

Almost 4.5 and seeming more grown up every day.

At 4 years and 5 months:
  • They love swimming and are both willing to go under. Tannah has basically taught herself how to swim, and Harper has become so much braver in the water this summer.
  • They love to play dress up and play outside.
  • They've started singing songs off of the radio, but they don't always know the correct words. I hear a lot of "bandaids don't fix boomer holes" these days.
  •  They love going to the library and picking out books and movies. They also always want to play on the computer for a while.
  • They love to play games and "play with me," which consists of me tickling them and raising them up into the air.
  • They wear size 5T shirts and pants. They wear size 11 shoes.
  • They sleep from about 8:30 until 7. They nap for about 45 minutes during the week and often skip naps on weekends.
  • They still love their blankies and any number of rotating stuffed animals. Their favorite changes daily/weekly.
  • They love helping and are always asking to "do chores". They especially love sweeping and doing dishes.
  • They've been asking for snuggles every night, so we usually lay with them for a few minutes after reading books and singing our good night song.
  •  They've started acting out little scenarios together. The other day I overheard Harper saying, "pretend we have to say goodbye." Then the girls hugged, and Tannah said, "I know this will be hard." They were cracking me up.
  •  The girls want to talk about our days over dinner every night, but they always want me to go first.
  • We took the girls on their first day "adventure" to Chicago. We had lunch in Chinatown, went to Maggie Daley Park, and had deep dish pizza for dinner. It was a great day.

  • When you're in the thick of infant and toddler twins, it can sometimes be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think we're solidly in the light now. The girls are so much fun. I love playing with them and getting to experience new adventures.

  • Tannah still almost always asks to watch Sheriff Callie, but Harper generally asks for Dinosaur Train or Daniel Tiger.

  • They still "tell" me a question every night, and they've taken to asking for snuggles as well.

  • It sometimes seems like four years have gone by in a flash, but I also can't picture our lives without them.

Three and 3/4! Time is flying so fast that I almost missed it!

At three years and nine months:

  • Tannah has informed me that she'd rather not have any more "stay at home days" (weekends) because she misses Darcy too much:). It's a good thing I'm thrilled with the girls care, otherwise I might be jealous:)

  • They love going to preschool. They get to bring things for show and tell on Tuesdays and have library on Thursdays, and they think this is the coolest thing ever.

  • They wear size 4-5T shirts and pants. They wear size 10 shoes.
  • They sleep from about 8:30 until 7 and nap for about 45 minutes

  • They crack me up with the things they say and do on a regular basis. This is such a fun age!

    2 Years and 10 Months

You'd think with how much we've been stuck inside this month, I'd find more time to post, but the days are busy and fly by quickly. Third birthday party planning is starting around here. How did that happen?!!

Harper has a cold and is not feeling well.

    This is Tannah's "cheeseburger" smile.

    At 34 months:

    • They love to watch tv. We have really tried to limit their screen time, but it's still taken hold and they ask to watch "a show" or "a tiny show" multiple times every day. Their favorite shows are Team UmiZoomi, Paw Patrol, and Micky Mouse Clubhouse. They also love Dumbo, Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, Tangled, and Monster's Inc.
    • They love to color, paint, take care of their babies, and "cook" in their kitchen.
    • Favorite toys from Christmas are their "tractor", monkeys, and babies and baby goodies. They also love their easel.
    • They love to sing. We regularly hear Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Jingle Bells, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, and other songs they make up.

The list includes blankie, big puppy, black puppy, piglet, and her monkey. Harper sticks to blankie, little puppy, penguin, and her her monkey.
    • They love dogs and have to give their favorite dog, Kaluha, hugs and kisses before we leave daycare every day.
    • They love carousel rides and ask to go to the beach multiple times every week. They're going to be so excited when they learn that we'll be taking a trip to Jamaica this winter. We're holding off on telling them until right before because they are at the age where they will ask about it every single day (and likely have multiple meltdowns when they realize it's not the right day).
They are delightful little girls. I can't wait to take them on their adventure to Jamaica!

    2 Years and 1 Month

I think 2 is about the time when you stop referring to your childrens' age in months, so the girls are 2 years and 1 month.

    At 2 years 1 month:

  •  The girls love books, their blankies, their water table, and slides.
  • They are speaking in 4-5 word sentences and love to name things. We understand most of what they say, but even if we understand the words, we sometimes have to decipher the full meaning.  For example, when Harper says, "I sit down", she means "I want to sit on your lap, mommy:)".
  • They have strong opinions on what they want - "no purple shoes mama, I want wear boots".
  • They love meat loaf, yogurt, goldfish crackers, green beans, and pretty much all fruit.
  • They drink about three sippy cups of milk per day.
  • They wear size 2T shirts and a mixture of 18-24 and 2T pants. They wear size 5 diapers and size 6 shoes.
  • They love shoes and are very particular about which ones they wear.  I bought them some adorable, but not the most supportive, cowboy boots for their two year pictures, and they ask to wear them pretty much every day.
  • They are so sweet with each other.  Tannah has a tendency to melt down at the drop of a hat, and Harper will go over and pat her back and say "it's ok" when Tannah is having a crying fit.
  • They love music, dancing, and nursery rhymes.  They love to sing EIEIO and the ABC's.
  • They give fantastic hugs and kisses.
  • They sleep from about  7:30 until 7, and they take one nap.
  • They are moving up to the Toddler room at daycare this week, and they love to tell us the names of all of their friends at school.

  • They bring such joy to my life. If I'm having a rough day, a smile or a giggle from them is sure to turn things around. I am the luckiest.
