October 2011

You turned six months old in October.  At the beginning of the month you still needed a little help to sit up on your own, but by the end of the month you were both sitting with no problems.  You changed so much this month!  It was pretty amazing how you could go from fairly stationary babies to moving little machines in such a short span of time.  In October both of you were rolling in both directions.  Tannah, you started creeping along the ground, and you could turn yourself in a complete circle.  If I walked across a room, you would spin yourself around so that you could keep watching me.  Harper, you started getting up on your hands and knees and rocking, so we knew that you were going to be crawling in no time.

Neither of you had any teeth yet, but you were the drooliest little girls every!  I felt so bad because you both had little rashes of dry skin around your mouths from all of the drool.
It became nearly impossible to get a picture of the two of you together this month.  As soon as I set you down, the two of you wanted to go in opposite directions.  Your speed has always amazed me!

Tannah, you were the first to master sitting up.  You were so proud of your new skill.

The two of you were such happy babies.  People (including me) just could not get enough of your smiles.  Every time we went out people came up to us to ask questions about you and to tell me how adorable you were (as if I didn't already know that:).  You were such little characters for us.  When you smiled, your entire faces would light up, and you brightened everyone's day.

The weather was getting cooler, so we pulled out our leopard buntings.  Those things kept you nice and toasty all winter long, and you looked about as adorable as it gets in them.

We continued marching along with introducing you to solid foods.  When Grandma and Grandpa came to visit we took you to an apple orchard.  You both got to try fresh apples, and you definitely liked them.

I was so excited to dress you up for Halloween, even though I knew it would only be for pictures.  I started planning your costumes months in advance, and I decided that I could make them (with Grandma's help of course since I didn't have a sewing machine at that point in time).  I spent most of a weekend working on those costumes, but it was completely worth it when I saw the two of you in them.  My little bugs:)

You brought your first art project from daycare home in October.  I hung them on the fridge, and they stayed there for several months.  I just love how different they are.

We did end up getting to wear your costumes out to the zoo one day, but it was rpetty cold so you had to wear your leopard suits underneath them.  Everyone kept commenting on the little leopard twins.

And then it was the end of the month.  You were both sitting up on your own.  I put you in sleepers that matched some of the ones we had when you were newborns because it helped make me feel like life wasn't moving quite so fast.

Having the two of made life feel like it was going in super speed.  On the one hand it was so exciting to see you growing and learning every single day, but on the other I just wanted time to slow down so I could fully enjoy every new thing that you did.  The first six months went by in the blink of an eye.
